Last night, Downtown Terrell came alive once again for the second Terrell Social Evening, and what a night it was! This time, the theme was Latino Night, and the community absolutely showed up for it.
The evening was packed with something for everyone. From colorful vendor booths and food trucks serving up delicious eats, to classic cars on display at the car show, to adorable playhouses and games for the kids. The entire event had a warm, festive energy. Add in some alcohol and live music that had people dancing and smiling from block to block, and it was everything a summer night should be.
And believe it or not… it was all free.
Now, let me back up for a second and tell you how this almost became a “watch it from Facebook” night for me. Over in Wills Point, the weather was doing everything it possibly could to keep me home. We’re talking thunder, lightning, and heavy rain. It was so intense that I honestly didn’t know if the event was even happening anymore.
So, like any savvy local, I jumped onto Facebook to check in… and what do I find? People in Terrell talking about sunshine. Welcome to Texas, where a 20-minute drive can take you from storm clouds to blue skies without warning.
I took the leap and headed to Terrell, and I’m so glad I did. The weather there was truly perfect. A light breeze, sunshine mixed with just enough clouds to keep it comfortable, and absolutely no hint of the chaos that was happening just a few miles away.
From the moment I arrived, the energy was contagious. The music was phenomenal, the crowd was buzzing with happiness, and it felt like the entire town had come together to celebrate. It was the kind of evening that reminds you how powerful community truly is.
To the organizers – hats off to you. Pulling off a successful event is no small feat, and doing it twice in a row is even more impressive. You’ve created something special here, and people are taking notice.
If you missed out, don’t worry, just don’t make the same mistake again. The next Terrell Social Evening is happening on August 9th, and I highly recommend you mark your calendar now.
Want to see what you missed? I posted some videos on my TikTok (you can find me at @CeciliaWSpeaks) and did a livestream on Facebook if you want to catch the replay.
See you at the next one, friends.
