Let me just say this — if you didn’t make it to Terrell Social yesterday, you seriously missed out on a night packed with community, live music, and a few unexpected surprises!
First off, massive kudos to everyone who helped put this together. I know Jonathan Najera from Lilie’s Event Center and Sergio Betancourt with KFCE 95.5 were key players, but there were clearly a lot of folks involved behind the scenes. Y’all deserve a standing ovation.
The entertainment? 🔥 Top-notch! Big Daddy Band lit up the stage and brought that full Texas energy. But here’s where things got a little surreal for me…
Over ten years ago, I worked as a stage manager at the Dallas Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon. During that time, I met TJ Marzonie, a talented guitarist and all-around great guy. Fast forward to last night — I spotted his name on the event promo and realized he was playing with Big Daddy Band! So naturally, I had to sneak backstage and say, “TJ, I don’t expect you to remember me…”
And guess what? He DID. Not only did he remember working with me, he remembered where, and even that I’m Swedish. I was floored. It was one of those beautiful, unexpected full-circle moments that just makes your heart smile.
Here’s a fun fact — did you know I actually created the KFCE 95.5 logo? Yepp… one of my small secrets in life. It’s wild how life comes back around, isn’t it?
The event wasn’t packed — yet — but hey, it was the first of its kind. And with the energy and talent that was there, I know this is just the beginning of something incredible for the Terrell community.
I met familiar faces, made new connections, and even though I had to sneak out early (3:30am alarms are brutal), I’m still buzzing from the joy of it all.
So here’s your reminder: show up. Even if you’re tired, even if you think it’s “just a local event.” You never know what kind of moments are waiting for you — or who might remember your name after all these years.
Until the next adventure 💛
