Coffee, Conversations, and Carlosa

Some days just flow right from start to finish, and today was one of them.

I kicked off my morning in Heath, TX, meeting with Neil Stapish from New York Life. He just moved to Texas this year, and hearing his story was a reminder of how every journey has its own exciting beginning. We talked about business, life, and the joys of new adventures—like finding the best local coffee spots.

Speaking of coffee, our meeting was at 5013 Coffee, and I ordered a London Fog Tea that was both delicious and a little unexpected. It’s always fun to try something new, and honestly, it fit the vibe of the morning perfectly. Calm, yet energizing.

From Heath, I headed to Terrell for She Means Business, the monthly networking lunch hosted by the Terrell Chamber at Lula Mae’s Bistro. This event is always one of my favorites. It’s not your typical networking meeting, it’s women sitting down over a good meal, chatting, laughing, and building real connections.

But today came with a fun little twist. We had a “wannabe female” join the table, at least for the hour! Carlos showed up with his coworker, not realizing this was a women’s event. Did we care? Not one bit! I renamed him “Carlosa”, and we welcomed him right in. The laughter didn’t stop there. We even had four new faces join us, which made the whole experience even better.

These are the moments that remind me what networking is really about. It’s not stiff conversations or forced pitches. It’s people! Their stories, their laughter, their willingness to show up and connect.

Networking isn’t just about growing your business. It’s about growing yourself, your confidence, and your circle of people who cheer you on. Whether it’s a financial planner with a story to tell or a lunch full of women supporting each other’s dreams, those connections matter.

So here’s my encouragement to you: get out there. Meet someone new. Try that interesting cup of tea. Laugh a little. You never know what friendship, collaboration, or idea might come from it.

Because when you combine good people, great conversation, and genuine connection—you’re already winning.
