Yesterday was one of those beautifully full days that reminded me how varied — and unexpected — this journey can be.
It started with a morning speech at the Melissa Rotary Club, where I shared insights on intentional networking and international business relationships. Then, with just a couple of hours to regroup, I shifted gears completely… and stepped into my role as a singer.
I don’t perform very often anymore (there’s a longer story behind that choice), but once in a while, an opportunity comes up that feels too special to pass up. Last week, I was contacted by the European American Chamber of Commerce Texas and asked to represent Sweden at their annual event, Experience Europe. I had performed when Sweden hosted the event two years ago, and it was an honor to be invited again.
This year’s celebration was held at the stunning Marie Gabrielle Restaurant & Garden in downtown Dallas — a lush, elegant space that made the whole evening feel like a European summer night. I was scheduled to perform just two songs, which I did… quietly tucked in a corner while everyone else mingled, networked, and explored the cultural displays.
Honestly? These types of performances can feel a little ungrateful — you’re often background noise. But one sweet lady came up to me afterward, smiled, and told me she enjoyed my songs. That simple moment made all the difference. 💛
Unfortunately, no one captured any photos or videos of me performing — so you’ll just have to take my word for it that I was there and singing! 😅
The rest of the event was a blast. Dozens of countries and international businesses were represented, each showcasing something unique. The Swedish table had the classics: pickled herring, snaps, and candy. I sampled some amazing Finnish food (something delicious with egg on bread), Italy brought out the pizza, and France (represented by La Madeleine) served up desserts that were absolutely divine.
It was such a fun and well-attended event — a great reminder of how vibrant and connected our international business community really is. Thank you, EACC Texas, for inviting me back to represent Sweden once again.
Until the next adventure!
