Today I had the honor of speaking at the Lindale Rotary Club, and I have to say, I’ve never been welcomed quite like this before. Nearly 25 people filled the room, and I think I shook hands with almost every single one. That kind of warmth makes a lasting impression.
As always, it was a privilege to share my story of surviving cardiac arrest. So often I hear the words, “I didn’t know there’s a difference between a heart attack and cardiac arrest.” There is, and it’s an important one. A heart attack is a circulation problem. Cardiac arrest, on the other hand, is electrical. In my case, the electricity in my heart suddenly stopped, without a clear explanation.
One of my favorite traditions from Rotary Clubs is their gesture of donating a book to the local library in honor of each speaker. For me, that book was 10 Things I Love About You by Sophie Aggett. A beautiful choice and a wonderful honor.
Thank you to the Lindale Rotary Club for the heartfelt welcome and to Mr. Bob Fiorendino for the invitation. I truly had a blast today and am grateful for the opportunity to connect, share, and inspire.
