Music, Memories & A Whole Lot of Fun đŸŽ¶

Last night was the grand finale of this year’s Terrell Social Concert Series, and let me tell you, they ended with a bang! Three concerts this year, and they aimed HIGH for this last one.

Opening the night was none other than Corey Watson, a phenomenal singer-songwriter straight out of Terrell. I first met Corey about 10 years ago at a couple of open mic nights. Even back then, you could tell he had the voice, the talent, and yes
the look to make it big in country music. Then life happened. I started working in EMS, changed social media accounts, and we lost touch.

When I saw Corey’s name on the event flyer, I thought, “I wonder if he even remembers me?” It had been at least 8 years since we last crossed paths. But wouldn’t you know it, later that same day, Corey added me on Facebook. I guess that answered my question!

I came straight from work to the event, just in time to catch Corey already on stage. The boy I remembered had turned into a man, and wow, did he sound amazing! He played his heart out in the heat, and I stood off to the side, soaking in the music. When he finished, I felt that someone’s-looking-at-me feeling
and sure enough, Corey was walking right toward me! It meant so much that he remembered me after all these years. We promised it will not be another decade before we see each other again.

Next up was The Dueling Pianos, and let’s just say
the audience didn’t quite know what to expect at first. Even after kicking things off with “Sweet Caroline” (how can you not sing along to that?!), people were still a little shy. That’s when Angie from the Terrell Chamber of Commerce grabbed me and a couple others, planted us front row, and we decided to lead the charge. Dancing, singing, laughing, we had the time of our lives! It didn’t take long before everyone loosened up and started requesting songs.

By the end, my voice was practically gone (and my body might have been just a little mad at me), but it was totally worth it. The show wrapped up at 10 p.m., which was probably for the best because I don’t think my vocal cords could have survived another chorus.

And here is the unexpected gift from the night. Somewhere between Corey’s heartfelt country set and belting out piano bar classics, I felt it. That spark. Music has been such a big part of my life, and for a long time, I let it go quiet. Last night reminded me why I love it so much, and I am beyond excited to be finding my way back to it. Soon I will be in the studio again, and maybe even back on stage. My heart feels full just thinking about it.

What a way to close out the season. Thank you, Terrell, for another unforgettable night. Here’s to more music, more memories, and maybe just a little less shouting next time. 😉
